The recent Three Counties Lodge Investiture Meeting proved to be a truly distinguished and inspiring evening, bringing together leaders from across all Masonic Orders of Northamptonshire, Huntingdonshire and Bedfordshire.
The ceremony saw WBro John Booth install WBro David Sowerby, the Provincial Grand Master for Northampton, Huntingdon & Bedford Mark Master Masons, as the new Worshipful Master of the Lodge. Three Counties Lodge is unique in that it serves as a lodge for Heads of Orders, with the Worshipful Master selected each year by the Provincial Grand Master — an honour reserved for those who have demonstrated exceptional service and leadership within Freemasonry.
Looking ahead, the evening also saw the announcement of next year’s Worshipful Master: WBro Stephen Churchill, the Provincial Prior for the Provincial Priory of Northampton, Huntingdon & Bedford. This marks a historic moment, as it will be the first time in twelve years that the Worshipful Master of Three Counties will be drawn from the Knights Templar.
In addition to the impressive installation ceremony, attendees were treated to an address by RWBro Mark Constant, who provided a detailed overview of Project 3000 — a province-wide membership initiative designed to strengthen the future of Freemasonry in our area. RWBro Constant explained the constitutional importance of maintaining a membership above 3,000, highlighting how this figure influences the number of active officers, promotions in past rank, and annual grand rank appointments permitted to the Province.
The evening concluded with a convivial festive board, attended by over 77 brethren dining together — a testament to the strength of fellowship and unity that defines the Three Counties Lodge and the wider Provincial community.
It was a memorable night celebrating both continuity and progress — a shining example of leadership, tradition, and shared purpose within Northampton, Huntingdon & Bedford Freemasonry.
