On Saturday 2nd May, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, VWBro Tim Almond, and Assistant Provincial Grand Master, WBro Dale Gilbert, accompanied by Group Officers WBro Bob Smith and WBro Kev Barton, together with the Sitting Masters of Hatton Lodge and John Pyel Lodge, WBro Steve Patrick and WBro John Simpson, attended a community event in Wellingborough.
The occasion marked the dedication of a “Tommy Bench” donated by the Wellingborough Group of Lodges in support of the local Royal British Legion. The bench, one of two installed within Swanspool Gardens, provides a place for local residents and visitors to sit, reflect and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country.
The ceremony was attended by the Town Mayor, several local councillors, and representatives from OEH, a local company that generously donated the second bench within the gardens.
The dedication ceremony was conducted by Royal British Legion Chaplain, Rev Paula York, whose thoughtful words highlighted the importance of remembrance, community and continued support for veterans and their families.
The event demonstrated Freemasonry’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and preserving spaces that encourage reflection, remembrance and togetherness. Through initiatives such as this, local Freemasons continue to put into action the core values of Integrity, Friendship, Respect and Service.
The Wellingborough Group of Lodges should be congratulated on supporting such a meaningful project, which will serve the community for many years to come.
