A Chapter Consecrated in Honour and Memory

A truly historic occasion took place at Sheaf Close yesterday with the Consecration of a new Royal Arch Chapter within the Province — the first such Consecration in 24 years. The Chapter, named The Wayne Williams Chapter of Provincial Grand Stewards, was created in loving memory of Excellent Companion Wayne Williams, Past Grand Superintendent, whose leadership, warmth and dedication left an enduring legacy across the Province.

The strength of feeling and respect for Wayne Williams was reflected in the remarkable support for the new Chapter. With 88 Founder Members, 74 present for the ancient Consecration ceremony, and over 150 Companions in attendance, the strength of support reflected the respect and affection held for Wayne across the Province. The ceremony was further honoured by the presence of visiting Grand Superintendents from other Provinces, who joined the procession in a memorable display of Companionship.

The atmosphere throughout was one of solemn pride, unity and reflection, befitting both the importance of the event and the man in whose honour the Chapter was formed.

The Charter, issued by Supreme Grand Chapter, was formally read by the Provincial Scribe Ezra, Excellent Companion John Ford, marking the official establishment of the Chapter and underscoring the significance of the moment within Royal Arch Masonry in our Province.

Following the Consecration, Companions and distinguished guests gathered for a formal dinner, at which the Williams family were Guests of Honour. The occasion provided an opportunity not only to celebrate the creation of the Chapter, but also to remember Wayne Williams as a husband, father, friend and Mason.

During the dinner, the Grand Superintendent, Excellent Companion Mark Constant, addressed those present with a heartfelt and personal speech, recalling his own memories of time spent with Wayne and reflecting on the qualities that made him such a respected and much-loved figure. In a particularly touching moment, Excellent Companion Mark Constant presented Mrs Jean Williams with a beautiful bouquet of flowers on behalf of the Province, a gesture warmly received and met with heartfelt applause.
