The Craft Freemasonry Lodge is the basis of all regular Freemasonry (that is Freemasonry recognised by the United Grand Lodge of England). To become a Mason, every man must therefore initially join such a Lodge.

Beyond Craft Freemasonry there are numerous other Masonic orders (sometimes known as side degrees) Masons may wish to join. Each of these has its own unique history, regalia and ceremonies.

The relationship between these Orders is shown here. Those shown in red are Christian Orders. Those shown in black are open to all Master Masons.
