It is often said that when the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Well, in the south-west arm of the Northants and Hunts Masonic galaxy, brethren have truly risen to the cause.

Many of the lodges have established WhatsApp groups as a way of keeping in touch, and the resultant level of friendly and supportive banter has been heart‑warming, uplifting, and amusing in equal measure.

One highly effective act has been the south-west group's nine o’clock virtual toasts, particularly when held on what would have been a lodge’s regular meeting-night.

Indeed, one brother at Coritani Lodge No. 8079 went the whole hog and dressed for the occasion. Top-marks Brother Ben Allee!

Another special touch has been the frequent contact with elderly or vulnerable brethren, which has then been reported back to the rest of the Lodge's brethren via their WhatsApp group. Yet another example of the incredible bonds of friendship and support shown by our wonderful fraternity.

Yes, times are difficult, but once again Freemasons have risen to the occasion, acting together to support those in need.
