On Sunday the 9th of December 2018, Peterborough Cathedral, which is celebrating its 900th anniversary, again played host to the Province’s Annual Festival of Lessons and Carols.
The Dean of Peterborough, the Very Reverend Christopher Dalliston, led the service, and the Cathedral's choir performed brilliantly throughout.
Lessons were read by the Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Max Bayes, as well as the heads of other Masonic orders from within the Province including the Grand Superintendent of the Holy Royal Arch, E Comp Jim Boughton, and the Provincial Grand Master for the Mark Degree, RW Bro Bob Stokes.
The Cathedral was filled with members from across the Province together with their friends and members of their families. The Vice Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Mr Richard Barnwell, Deputy Lord Lieutenant Northamptonshire, Dr Ahmed Mukhtar as well as the Mayor of Peterborough, Councillor Chris Ash, Mayoress of Peterborough, Mrs Doreen Roberts and Deputy Mayor of Peterborough, Councillor John Fox were amongst the many civic dignitaries in attendance.
The service concluded with the usual mince pies (provided by the South-West group of Lodges) and glass of wine, and there was no doubt that all those in attendance left with a good helping of festive cheer!
