Why I Joined Freemasonry

John Ferguson, IT Recruitment Consultant

"I researched Freemasonry on the web. One of the things that impressed me was the strong founding principles and I wanted to be with individuals who shared these values. Another reason was to be part of an organisation that puts something back into society and the local community. I would also have the opportunity to increase my network of friends and acquaintances through shared principles and beliefs.

As someone who didn't know any Freemasons in the Province I was naturally a little nervous and anxious but the welcome I received was extremely friendly. My questions were answered and I was given all the information I wanted.

Freemasonry is full of very friendly individuals who take the time to make you feel at home and help if needed. I think it has made me more thoughtful and considerate in the way I go about my life. The outside perception of Freemasonry would be different if the general public knew what Freemasons give to the community.

I am glad that I made the decision to join and am thoroughly enjoying my Freemasonry. Through it I have had the opportunity to meet individuals with a wide range of life experiences and enjoy their company - often gaining a different perspective and outlook. I think Freemasonry has helped to make me more confident and self-assured."

Naveen Stephen, Senior Manager Leading Independent Mobile Phone Retailer

"Freemasonry is a good way to give back to the community and it's a great way to make new friends. I feel a sense of brotherhood through being around like minded people with similar values and beliefs.

I'm looking forward to my Masonic journey and making new discoveries. I feel I'm developing spiritually and mentally. Freemasonry is helping build my inner strength and character.

I say to anyone browsing this website and reading these quotes, 'Freemasonry has probably found you. If you decide to join, you'll enjoy it!' I am very proud to be a Freemason."

John Gardner, Retired

"I was always interested in Freemasonry because of all the good work I knew they did - and in such a modest way. I knew a few Freemasons. They were all nice people.

Since I've become a Freemason, I have experienced the best friendships I've ever had in my life. I wish I'd done it 30 years ago.

I can relax and enjoy myself. Unlike in one of my previous roles, I don't have to watch my back because no one's going to stab me in it! Its an entirely different life and the camaraderie is tremendous.

I'm so impressed I'm proposing some of my friends as members."
