2013 Festival
Message from the Provincial Grand Master RWBro W Barrington Hall

"In launching the 2013 Festival Appeal for the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution, I am conscious of the tremendous reputation enjoyed by our Province in raising funds for National and Local charities and good causes.

A wonderfully successful 2002 Festival on behalf of The Grand Charity raised the magnificent total of £2.2m - a tribute to dedicated efforts throughout the Craft and by every other Masonic Order within our happy Province. We rightly take great pride in demonstrating our total commitment to every aspect of charitable work and I am therefore quite certain that the 2013 Festival will also be immensely successful.

That success will be assured if our fund raising is both creative and comprehensive. Creative it most certainly has been if the launch strategy of a sponsored Provincial walk is to be the future yardstick and comprehensive we must strive to make it so. If ALL Brethren are able to make a modest monthly commitment of funds over the coming six years we shall most certainly meet, and indeed significantly exceed Lodge and Provincial targets.

I therefore urge you to make that commitment the very next time you meet your Lodge Charity Steward. It will be most thankfully received and, you may be sure, very faithfully applied by the RMBI whose magnificent work in providing high quality residential and nursing care for older Freemasons and their dependents is a source of great pride to us all."

What is a Festival?

It is the means by which the main Masonic Charities raise new funds. The Provincial Grand Master of this Province has agreed with Grand Lodge to raise funds for the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution over the years 2007 to 2013. Our Province's Festival will culminate in early 2013 with a Festival Dinner and the presentation of a sum of money raised, which is worthy of our dedicated membership.

How Can Masons Help?

The most effective way is by using the Gift Aid process in conjunction with a Lodge Relief Chest. Using Gift Aid means that for every pound you give, the charity currently receives an extra 28p from the Inland Revenue.

It would be appreciated if you could commit yourself to a minimum suggested payment totalling £60 over a twelve month period by signing a Regular Payment Promise for a minimum period of 6 years.

The strategy of giving a modest amount over a longer period will hopefully result in the vast majority of this Province's members being able to contribute to a final total of which we can all be proud.

For Non Tax Payers, regular contributions by cash or cheque will be most thankfully received.
